Bio
Rike van Kleef is a cultural worker, journalist, and author whose work centers on gender, power, and pop-culture. She began her career in the music industry, shaped by her experiences as a queer woman in a male-dominated field. Meanwhile Rike co-founded the association fæmm and hosted her own radio show. Today, she speaks and writes about the intersections of social policy and culture, contributing to outlets such as Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Musikexpress, and tipBerlin. Her academic study on gender representation at German music festivals was nominated for the FHP Gender Prize, and in 2023 she received the International Music Journalism Award. Her debut non-fiction book Billige Plätze was published by Ventil Verlag.
