Bio
Martin Cloonan is the Director of Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS) at the University of Turku, Finland. He is widely published and the coordinating editor of the journal Popular Music (Cabridge University Press). Martin’s research interests focus on the political economy of the music industries. In recent years he has concentrated on researching live music, including co-writing a three part history of the UK’s live music industry (Routledge) and conducting Finland’s first ever live music census in Helsinki in October 2024. Martin also performs as a singer in the Turku-based band The Young Ones. He can be contacted at martin.cloonan@utu.fi.
