On 22 November, Linecheck and ROBOT Festival present a special screening of “Una Lunghissima Ombra”, the new audiovisual project by Andrea Laszlo De Simone. A film to listen to, an album that takes shape through images blending music, cinema and poetry in a tender reflection on human perception, inviting us to listen and feel together.
Andrea Laszlo De Simone (born Andrea Oliviero Laszlo De Simone Saccà, Turin, 18 February 1986) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer. A self-taught artist, he writes, records and produces his music mostly alone in his home studio, shaping a highly distinctive sonic identity.
He debuted in 2012 with the self-produced experimental album Ecce Homo. In 2017 he released Uomo Donna (42 Records), named by Rolling Stone among the 10 best Italian solo albums of the last 20 years. His 2019 album Immensità—a pop-classical suite paired with a musical film—earned widespread international acclaim, especially in France, becoming the most-played song on France Inter in 2020 and ranking #3 in Les Inrockuptibles’ year-end chart.
In 2020 he released Dal giorno in cui sei nato tu, followed in 2021 by Vivo, both widely supported by French and Italian radio. Though reluctant toward media exposure, his live shows—performed with his 9-piece Immensità Orchestra—became a major highlight, including sold-out concerts and a special cinematic livestream produced by MI AMI and Triennale Milano in 2021. After a final run of acclaimed concerts in Italy and France, De Simone announced an indefinite pause from live performances to focus on family and composition.
His music has appeared in numerous films including Winter Boy, Coma, Tutto Chiede Salvezza and Promises, for which he also composed his first original score. In 2023 he scored Le Règne Animal by Thomas Cailley, earning the César Award for Best Original Score in 2024, the first Italian ever to win in this category.
De Simone returned in 2025 with the project Una Lunghissima Ombra, an album and visual poem released via 42 Records.
